7.22.1
Clarive 7.22.1 Release Notes¶
Release date: October 5, 2026
We're pleased to present our new patch release of Clarive 7.22.1 with some important features and bugfixes:
Improvements and issues resolved¶
[ENH] #4038 Core support for external frontend plugins (runtime-loaded React plugins, no core rebuild)¶
External features can now ship their own web interface, written in React, without rebuilding Clarive. Clarive loads the interface of each feature when the application starts, as declared in the frontend section of its feature.yml. All features use the same React and Ant Design as Clarive, so the browser loads only one copy of each.
With the new frontend SDK (@clarive/sdk, version 1.0.0) a feature can:
- add entries to the top menu, and its own sections to the side menu in a project, in All Projects or in both;
- add its own pages, protected by permissions;
- serve its own backend services under
/feature/<id>/api/, protected by permissions, and call them withsdk.api; - ship its own translations (
i18n/<lang>.po) and stylesheets, and use the colors of the Clarive theme through the--cla-*CSS variables; - offer components to Clarive screens, such as the view of a revision in a topic, the revision picker and the repository page;
- read the current user and their permissions, move to other pages, open topics, download files and receive server events.
A feature that fails to load, has an invalid feature.yml or fails while it is drawn is left out with a clear message in the log or in the browser console, and the rest of the application keeps working. A new developer guide, Frontend Features, explains how to build, package and install them.
This change also fixes removing entries from the cache by a text key, which did nothing and left the entry in the cache.
[ENH] #4048 Add HCL docs in spanish¶
The HCL documentation is now available in Spanish. This includes the whole HCL section (overview, syntax, addresses, resources, people, rules, other objects, command line, interface and error messages), the pages of the cla export, cla import, cla import-plan, cla diff and cla fmt commands, and the HCL parts of the roles, users, user groups, Rule Designer and resources pages. The cla docs page now also explains how to publish the documentation site in each language.
[ENH] #4050 HCL tests take too long¶
cla export is now much faster on installations with large plugins. To find out which resource classes come from plugins, the export read the class definition of every plugin with a check that got slower with the square of the size of the definition, and it did so again on every export. With a large plugin this added more than two seconds to each export. The same definition is now read in less than a tenth of a second, with exactly the same result.
The automated tests are also much faster. The HCL tests take about a third of the time, and two test files that waited ten and thirty minutes for nothing on the integration server now finish in seconds. The more in-depth HCL tests only run when CLARIVE_TEST_HCL=1 is set.
[ENH] #4063 Select scoped project on click on the topics grid¶
The projects shown in the Project column of the topics grid are now links. Clicking a project enters that project's scope, the same as selecting it in the menu, and Ctrl+click (Cmd+click on Mac) opens it in a new tab. Clicking the project no longer opens the topic preview. Custom project fields that point to other collections, such as areas, are not shown as links.
[FIX] #4057 MongoC reopen fixes¶
Fixed how the MongoDB connection options are read when the same option is set with more than one name, for example socketTimeoutMS and socket_timeout_ms. The value used depended on chance, so it could change from one restart to another. The names are now checked in a fixed order: first the MongoDB name, then its snake_case alias, and then the legacy alias. The MongoDB setup documentation describes this order.
The index rebuild and the migrations now only use their default socket timeout of 30 minutes when neither query_timeout nor socketTimeoutMS is configured, so a configured timeout is always respected.
[FIX] #4058 Fieldlet attach file documents version tags are not being refreshed when there is more than one page.¶
Fixed the version selector of attached files when the attachments field has more than one page of files. After changing page, a file could show the version of another file, the one in the same position on the previous page. Each file now always shows its own version.
[FIX] #4059 JQuery operation in grid_editor¶
Fixed grid fields and milestone fields in the topic edit form, which were shown collapsed, with their headers and rows hidden, after jQuery was removed in 7.22. When the space available in the form could not be measured, the field was given a negative height. The field now keeps its configured height in that case. The same check was added to the Markdown editor, the HTML editor and the revisions list fields.
[FIX] #4060 Horizontal scroll bar missing at dashboards¶
Fixed the horizontal scroll bar in topic list dashlets. When the dashlet was narrower than the table, the last columns were cut off and could not be reached. The table now scrolls horizontally when it is wider than the dashlet, and the scroll bar is only shown in that case.
[FIX] #4061 Empty json returned by ws rule¶
Fixed webservice rules that sometimes returned an empty JSON, or even the response of another request. The rule runs in a separate process that sends its result back to the web server. When the same data appeared twice in the result, as happens with the webservice response, the result arrived incomplete, and the web server could read a value left over by a previous request. The result now always arrives complete and belongs to its own request.
Also fixed a related problem: when the web server had other processes running, the call could report a false error (exit code 255), or lose the output and the result of the rule.
[FIX] #4062 Bulk assign to release hangs on open¶
Fixed Assign to release for several topics selected in the topics grid. The window stayed blocked for 30 seconds and then lost the selected topics. It now opens at once with the selected topics, also from the All Projects topic grid.
Also, new topics created inside a project scope now get that project by default in their projects field, also when the field is hidden and not mandatory, as it happens with the projects field of releases.
[FIX] #4068 MongoC error starting disp¶
Fixed the dispatcher stopping right after it started, with a MongoDB Broken pipe error, when it was started in the background, for example with cla disp-start --daemon or cla start. The background process kept using the database connection of the process that started it, and that connection was closed when the first process ended. The background process now opens its own connection.
cla disp-start --daemon now waits until the dispatcher has started. If the dispatcher fails, the command shows the end of its log and ends with an error. The time to wait can be set with --start-timeout. cla start also reports when the dispatcher fails to start and ends with an error code.
[FIX] #4069 HTML tags in labels and contents being shown as html in text/number fields¶
Fixed field labels and text field values in the topic view that showed raw HTML tags, for example <b>Package</b>, and links that could not be clicked, such as the report links added by rules. This happened since the fields became editable in place in 7.20.1. Labels and text values that contain HTML are shown formatted again, and their links can be clicked. For safety, active content such as scripts, event handlers or javascript: links is removed before it is shown. Field names that contain quotes or HTML no longer break the field in the page either.
